Recognition of Current Competence

Our courses include   

• Sail boat handling

• Inshore and open sea navigation

• Boat management

• Cruise planning and preparation

• Yacht racing or cruising

• Basic sailing for beginners

• Inshore crew (racing or cruising) for protected waters day sailing .

• Inshore skipper (racing or cruisi ng)

• Coastal yachtmaster (racing or cruising) for coastal passages

• Ocean yachtmaster (racing or cruising) for ocean passages

At ENTRY LEVEL you can learn the basics of sailing with a half day introduction plus 3 half days of skill tuition to gain certificate at Basic Yacht Sailing ( Competent Crew ) level

At INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED LEVEL in Racing Yachts(TL6) or Cruising Yachts(TL4) you can improve your knowledge and skills in

• Navigation

• Safety

• Boathandling

At these levels you can gain your YACHT MASTERS CERTIFICATE after acquiring further seatime experience to improve your Boathandling and Seamanship Skills

SAILING YACHTMASTER (W.A.) can help you to establish your starting point and recognize any existing knowledge and experience that you already possess .

All training can be done in your own boat or SAILING YACHTMASTER (W.A.) can provide a suitable vessel.

Our Cruising/Racing Boat

.“The Sidewalk Cafe” is a 10.5 meter Ben Lexen designed Cruiser/Racer. She meets all standards of DPI extended Sail Training survey.

Since launching in 1987 she has Cruised successfully on the south and lower west coast from Fremantle to the island of the Recherche, east of Esperance and Raced successfullyin major races on the West and East coasts.

Major Successes have been:

• Sydney Hobart Yacht Race - 1991 2nd in Class

• Fremantle to Albany Yacht Race – Three firsts and multiple placings since 1987

• Fremantle to Geraldton Yacht Race – First 1986 ??

• Fremantle to Bunbury Yacht Race – Second 1985??

• Remembered fondly by many sailors who have learned and honed their skills while on board her
